St. Eugene Mining Corporation Limited is focussed on a development plan for the Tartan Lake Gold Mine in the Flin Flon Greenstone Belt, Manitoba. The Tartan Lake gold mining property produced 48,000 ounces of gold between 1987 and 1989. Management is currently assessing the steps necessary to return the mine to production in a relatively short time period, and with relatively modest capital requirements.
The Tartan Lake mining project consists of a 440 mt/day gold concentrator, largely intact, related infrastructure, and a decline providing access to developed mining blocks within the Main and South Zones to a vertical depth of 320 metres. The property is road accessible from the nearby mining town of Flin Flon and is hydro connected.
Management of St. Eugene believes there is opportunity to restore mining operations and improve the grade of ore mined by up to 25% by adopting a shrinkage method of mining. Ore dilution is the bane of all mines; selecting the appropriate mining method to minimize dilution is often the difference between profitable and unprofitable operations.
Ten (10) documented mineral occurrences are located within the Property boundaries, and accordingly, the Project provides the Company with the potential to identify additional ore and to expand on the historic gold production from a number of gold zones adjacent to the mine (and from the Laurel deposit, Amisk Lake property).
